Our engagements as counsel to companies in the natural gas field have covered a broad spectrum of environmental issues. These issues have included hazardous waste storage and disposal, asbestos management and removal, air emissions from generator engines and other equipment, oil spills, cleanup and spills from inactive manufactured gas plants, vehicle maintenance wastes, underground storage tanks, disposal of demolition debris from maintenance activities, and release reporting requirements. Some issues are unique to natural gas companies, such as the storage and disposal of natural gas waste fluids contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from transmission and distribution lines. Our experience also includes the litigation and negotiation of cost recovery claims against natural gas companies under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.
